I've been craving baklava for weeks so I thought I would turn this craving into a healthy breakfast.
Overnight oats
3/4 cup oats
1 tbsp chia
1/4 cup milk (plant or regular)
1-2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maple syrup
1 tbsp of mixed chopped nuts (pistachios,
Almonds and walnuts)
Poached pear
1 pear halved (peeled if preferred)
2 cups of water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/3 tbsp cardamom
2-3 Star Anise
Begin by making your overnight oats.
In a bowl or a mason jar, add all your ingredients and mix thoroughly. Place in fridge overnight or for at least 3-4 hours.
Once oats are in fridge, you can begin poaching your pear.
Cut pear in half and remove seeds. Peel if preferred.
Submerge your halved pears in the water,
Add your spices and honey and bring to the boil. Once at boiling point, reduce to a simmer and simmer for at least 20/30 mins or until your pear is tender.
Allow to cool and sit in fridge till the morning.
Essemble your overnight oats in a bowl, add pear, sprinkle with more nut mixture and rose petals.
Serve with maple syrup or orange blossom/ rose water to elevate the dish.
