Candied Walnuts

Candied nuts are always a delicious way to amp up your salads, put on your charcuterie boards or have in a bowl to nibble on when guests comes around. These nuts also pair well with yoghurt when your granola is low.

What you need

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

1 1/2 cups toasted walnuts

1/2 cup sugar

1/8 teaspoon coarse salt

Pour sugar into a medium saucepan and place over medium heat.

Stir with a wooden spoon as the sugar begins to melt.

Keep stirring until all the sugar has melted and the color is a medium amber - this should take 5 to 10 minutes.

Pour your toasted walnuts into sugar mixture and work quickly to cover all your nuts.

Next pour the walnuts onto a greaseproof paper and allow to cool completely before breaking up.

.

Notes - this sugar mixture will be boiling hot. Resist the urge to touch with your fingers.

.

Tips - don't like walnuts. Use hazelnuts, pecans, almonds, maccadamias - whatever your favourite.
