Spicy Cheap Eats with Firecracker Beef and Broccoli.
.
This meal came in under $15 with 4 servings with a few pantry items we already had.
It’s spicy, it’s sweet, it’s like packed full of flavour and the best part is, it’s on the table in under 20mins.
What you need
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
500g beef
1½ tbsp sesame oil
1 broccoli head
1 cup green beans diced
1/4 red capsicum diced
1/2 red onion
1 fresh chilli (deseeded)
2 spring onions diced
2 cloves garlic minced
.
Sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce , light or all-purpose - I used a Japanese style
2 tbsp rice vinegar
4 tbsp sriracha sauce - you can alter this depending on level of heat you’re after
4 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp water
.
Garnish
Toasted sesame seeds
Spring onion (green tips only)
.
Heat oil in a large frypan over high heat. Add your onion, spring onion and chilli - once sweated off - Add beef and cook, breaking it up as you go, Add garlic and stir.
.
Make sauce by mixing all ingredients and pour directly over beef, allowing the sugars in the sauce to caramelise gently.
.
Add your broccoli, beans, and capsicum and allow to simmer till your broccoli is tender.
.
Sprinkle your toasted sesame seeds - add your spring onion and serve over jasmine rice.
.
Budget meals couldn’t be tastier!
.
Note: If beef isn’t your thing, this sauce will work with literally any mince - pork, chicken and even tofu.
